Engineering Solutions for a Better Tomorrow

Engineering Design & Detailing

HazReps delivers engineering design and detailing services for mission-critical facility and life safety systems, including security, fire alarm, and gas detection systems. Our capabilities include:

  • access control systems (ACS)
  • intrusion detection systems (IDS)
  • video surveillance systems (VSS)
  • fire alarm system design
  • gas detection system design
  • engineer of record (EOR) services
  • multidiscipline engineering support

HazReps supports project execution with CAD and REVIT based design and detailing services, including development of the following to support coordination, permitting, and construction.

  • design drawings
  • shop drawings
  • permit sets
  • architectural backgrounds

BIM Modeling & BIM Coordination

  • BIM modeling & coordination
  • BIM modeling, clash coordination & design integration
  • building information modeling (BIM) & coordination services

Safety Audits & Assessments

  • design review
  • Insurance Company Underwriter reviews
  • High hazard assessments
  • Loss Prevention System (LPS)
  • Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Developing/deploying safety programs

Process Safety Engineering (PSE)

  • Hazard Operability (HazOp) risk studies
  • Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) risk studies
  • Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) risk studies
  • Visual risk analysis i.e., Bowties and Fishbone
  • Management of Change
  • Risk Reduction Profile
  • Verification and Validation program
  • Visual representations for workforce awareness such as Storyboard
  • Building Process Safety Culture, at any stage in an organization

Incident Investigation

  • Root Cause Analysis
  • TapRoot
  • Why Tree
  • 5 Why
  • Cause & Effect

Fire Protection Engineering (FPE)

  • Basis of Design reports
  • High Pile Storage for hazardous material, including Li-Ion battery storage
  • Combustible Dust analysis for battery manufacturing, Stamping Lazer Blanking lines, Spray Paint booths, etc.
  • Building suppression and alarm systems
  • Fire water system pump testing and annual reports per NFPA
  • Fire testing and analysis

Explosion Modeling

We offer computational fluid dynamic models of releases for overpressure, thermal radiant, and toxic concentration plumes.

  • Electrolyte, washer fluid, refrigerant releases
  • Battery Pack thermal runawayhttps://websites.godaddy.com/
  • Bag house release
  • Tanks (flammable liquid & gas, cryogenic), pressure vessels (reactors, boilers, HPS, flash drums, fin-fans), rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, co-gens), etc.

Electrical Area Classification

We provide 2 dimensional (bubble) maps. I pioneered this effort in EV Automotive industry for two clients. The value of the visual EAC 2D maps, aids in clear identification of the hazardous area for greenfield design considerations and future expansion evaluations.

  • Class/Division or Zone analysis for flammable material and combustible dust
  • Minimum Ignition Energy (MIE), Minimum Explosive Concentration (MEC)
  • KST (explosion pressure), Pmax (max dust pressure) for combustible dust analysis
  • CAD, REVIT drawings

Hazardous Chemical Classification

We analyze all chemicals for use and storage inside a building to classify per International Fire Code (IFC) and International Building Code (IBC). The format, HazReps prepares is user friendly for Fire Marshals and has been field tested with AHJs with positive results.

  • Classification of chemicals
  • Prepare Hazardous Material Inventory Sheet (HMIS) for building permits.
  • Max Allowable Quantity (MAQ) analysis
  • Hazardous (H) Room requirements analysis
  • Greenfield/Brownfield consultation
  • Provide sustainable HMIS program for clients to align with annual HMIS permit revalidation.
